Academic employee with a focus on intelligent production processes (f/m/d) 25-06-01
- full-time 100% (39,5 h/week) -
Your tasks:
Your task is to work on the research project “Interactive algorithms for the integration of empirical knowledge in the intelligent automation of small series production and special-purpose processes” funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung - with the aim of developing innovative AI systems especially for small series and special-purpose processes and thus making them fit for the future. The aim is to develop principles that enable reliable predictions and recommendations to be made even with minimal data input.
Your main areas of activity include
- Planning, setting up and carrying out tests (e.g. in machining)
- Evaluation of test data using machine learning methods
- Further development of machine learning algorithms and adaptation to the challenges of small series and special-purpose machinery
- Testing the concepts with industrial partners
- Producing scientific publications and presenting the results at scientific conferences
- Preparation and follow-up work as well as support in teaching in the Master's degree courses at the department of mechanical engineering, e.g. by preparing teaching materials and carrying out laboratory
Your profile:
- You have a Master's degree in a scientific or technical field, e.g. mechanical engineering, production engineering, plastics technology, mechatronics, optoelectronics, computer science, physics or similar
- Ideally, you will either combine sound knowledge of production engineering (including process data acquisition) with basic knowledge of programming and the application of machine learning methods or vice versa
- Knowledge of the simulation software Abaqus is an advantage
- You are enthusiastic about innovative development tasks and want to help shape the intelligent production processes of tomorrow
- You enjoy working in cooperation with interdisciplinary teams

The opportunity to pursue a doctorate is available through the Baden-Württemberg Doctorial Association. The position is temporary until 31.08.2027 and is generally divisible.
The position will be classified in pay group EG 13 of the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L), provided that the legal and personal requirements are met.
